Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
