In November 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK preparing for a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The speech was interrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Activists delayed speech don't think I can make the flight we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein replied: "There. Is a gulf air that leaves at 9:50 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an excellent helper".

These exchanges were released on Wednesday together with more than 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the deceased convicted sex offender.

The release by the Congressional committee includes an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is withheld. The BBC managed to confirm his identity by matching the dates, events, and places mentioned.

For instance, Epstein discusses arranging a jet from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the messages, and offers praise their "Oxford speech". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and delivered the talk at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, declined to comment on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon was one of Trump's key advisers in the run up to the 2016 election and in the early days of his first administration, but resigned from the White House in August 2017.

He has admitted he was producing a documentary about Epstein before his death and reportedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he said: "We're going to release the film, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - early next year."

But the recently disclosed documents indicate Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier at times seeming to act like a aide.

A few days prior to the conversation in which Epstein seemed to booked a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "what's it like to have the most highly paid booking agent in history ".

Bannon thanked him: "U r quite capable assistant", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "Abu Dhabi" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I'll make sure you are well looked after."

British Affairs Discussed in Messages

The released communications also show Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year.

Earlier on the same day his speech at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the Brexit issue this day with Nigel, Boris and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a reference to Theresa May, the embattled UK prime minister at the time, he continued: "The guys are trying to proceed. May today / tomorrow…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think staying as much as you can in the UK. Ideal- so others get the dedication of your follow-up."

Shortly after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa may survive". Bannon answered: "I don't see how BUT the people over here have no balls" and noted "Boris ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - someone has to take charge".

May was eventually removed in 2019 after surviving two votes of no confidence in late 2018.

A representative for Reform UK informed media: "Nigel Farage has never been in a meeting with Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Johnson." And there is no evidence that encounter took place.

The Congress will decide soon on whether the justice department should release all its records related to its investigation into Epstein, who passed away in prison in that year.

Attention in Epstein's associations with influential individuals was reignited this week after the publication of over 20,000 documents from his archives.

A portion of those mentioned the former president, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for years, but claims they fell out in the early 2000s, two years before Epstein was initially charged.
