Soccer Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, however will the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new record, the new release, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games over time - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's only on the road win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham extending their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are always decent at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

This is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
